Project Manager: Rainbow Shades J086 MaAfrika TikkunMaAfrika Tikkun has developed projects that would assist disadvantaged and impoverished communities in a variety of ways in the following areas of need:
There is a need for programs that will aim at building capacity, stability and security among the residents. The challenge of reaching all the disadvantaged people of South Africa remains a difficult one, and need all the resources, both human and financial to address these challenging tasks. MaAfrika’s future goals for this project are to build community infrastructure in Peri-Urban Townships of South Africa, provide multifaceted comprehensive care and support of orphans and vulnerable children and to provide support to poverty stricken families. J384 Hearts of Compassion - South AfricaHearts of Compassion was launched in 2002 with the vision of reaching out to needy families, at risk children, orphans and the sick in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands particularly in the rural areas. They have desperate needs as some have only very little income with majority having no source of income at all. Many families consist of orphan children trying to survive on their own. We visit the families and deliver food and clothing and offer practical help where we can. We endeavour to provide medical care also. We bring practical aid to the needy families with a goal of helping them to become self sufficient by teaching gardening and sewing skills including entrepreneurial skills to capable locals. Capacity building the local community - in every project a committee is established and they are trained in running the affairs of the project. Support groups are trained in organic gardening and other income generating activities. |
