As representatives of Mr Mandela here in Australia we would like to call upon you at this time for your assistance in helping us ensure that Mr Mandela’s initiatives and dreams continue to be supported and that his vision to eradicate poverty become realised.

How can you help?

Afrika Tikkun Australia is the only official Mandela organisation in Australia, and one of a handful in the world, to which Nelson Mandela still attaches his name.  Help us to further fulfil his desire that “my name not only LIVE on but WORK on for generations to come.” For this reason, thousands of vulnerable children in South Africa are cared for through the Afrika Tikkun model of holistic care of which he wiill always remain as Chief Patron.

Nelson Mandela was and will always be a global icon and an example of exemplary human values.
We thank you for your support of Nelson Mandela, his ethos and vision for a better future.

About Afrika Tikkun

Founded in 1994, with Nelson Mandela as Patron-in-Chief, Afrika Tikkun has evolved from a charity into a
developmental organisation focusing on children from cradle to career. The project aims to transform South
African communities by caring for vulnerable children and their families in six townships.

Afrika Tikkun has developed projects that assist disadvantaged and impoverished communities in a variety of
ways in the following areas of need:

• Early Childhood Development
• Care for the elderly
• Youth Development
• Nutrition and Support Services
• Primary Health Care and Support with the emphasis on assistance to HIV/AIDS affected patients and
their families

Afrika Tikkun also recognises that there is a need for programs that aim at building capacity, stability and
security amongst the community. Classes and workshops including home economic skills, computer
literacy, instructor training and community development are offered to adults and children alike in an effort to
move its participants to self sustainability.
In Australia, Afrika Tikkun is proud to be a partner for Project J586 with Global Development Group (ABN 57 102 400 993), an Australian DFAT approved Non Government Organisation carrying out quality humanitarian projects with approved partners.  GDG takes responsibility of the Australian-supported project according to DFAT rules providing a governance role and assisting in the areas of planning, monitoring, evaluating and auditing to ensure the projects are carried out to DFAT requirements. Tax deductible receipts for gifts over $2 with a preference for this approved aid and development project will be issued by GDG for project J586. If projects are overfunded, funds may be directed towards other approved project activities. Please note that no non-development (evangelistic, political or welfare) activities are funded by any of these projects. For more information please visit www.gdg.org.au
